What is a multiple domain?

A multiple domain is one that is linked to your primary or main domain name with a dot.

An example of a multiple domain would be the following.

I register the main domain www.maindomain.com which sells a number of different ranges of products.

These products may in fact be targeted at different age groups and target markets. My website salescopy therefore should ideally be suited to the markets that the products serve.

In such a case I could set up multiple websites such as:

  • range1.maindomain.com - Selling product Range 1
  • range2.maindomain.com - Selling product Range 2
  • range3.maindomain.com - Selling product Range 3
it is important to note that in the above cases only the main domain needs to be registered. I can use any word I like for the addittional extension of the domain name. If correctly selected keywords are chosen for multiple domains I can create domain names that include both my product keywords as well as my website identity.
